Keeping your information safe

This document explains how Driving Advisor processes information about you which is personally identifiable (“Your Information”) when you use the Driving Advisor website (“Driving Advisor”), whether you are a driving instructor, learner driver or visitor.

1. What data we collect:

We may collect and process the following data about you:

Learner drivers:

  • Registration and payment details;
  • Ratings information (where Driving Advisor driving instructors are able to rate you as a Driving Advisor learner driver);
  • Where you choose to use Driving Advisor’s social networking features or pages (including our Facebook pages and Twitter accounts), such information that you post or about you;

We may from time to time share your details with our insurance partners for marketing purposes, by visiting or purchasing with us you agree to your details being shared. To opt out please contact us at support@drivingadvisor.co.uk.

Driving instructors:

  • Your name, contact details, your ADI Badge and Driver’s Licence (for verification) other registration or profile information and reporting information about your use of Driving Advisor;
  • Verification documentations provided to us by you;
  • Details required in order to collect and pay to you any fees as relevant;
  • Reviews/ratings information (where other Driving Advisor users are able to rate you as a Driving Advisor driving instructor);
  • Where you choose to use Driving Advisor’s social networking features or pages (including our Facebook pages and Twitter accounts), such information that you post or about you;
  • Location data shared as part learners’ lesson reports;

Visitors:

  • Cookies information as set out in section 5;
  • Other data that you choose to provide to us;

All:

If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence;

  • Details about the device you use to access Driving Advisor, which may include your IP address or other unique device identifiers;
  • Cookies information as set out in section 5;
  • Any other information provided by you pursuant to your use of Driving Advisor;
  • We may also gather information about you from other sources, including but not limited to: Facebook (via go.drivingadvisor.co.uk), Twitter and our insurance partners.

We use Your Information in the following ways:

To provide the Driving Advisor services to you including tracking driving lessons and payments;

  • Your contact details may be used to notify you about changes to Driving Advisor or respond to any communication or request from you;
  • Unless you have told us you do not want to receive marketing communications, to provide you with marketing communications about our products and services and those of third parties which we think may be of interest to you. This may also include marketing communications on social media platforms (including Facebook) used by you. You can ask us to stop sending you marketing communications by emailing us at support@drivingadvisor.co.uk or by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in any marketing email we send you;
  • To monitor the use of Driving Advisor;
  • To investigate any complaints or potential breaches of the service;
  • With regards to driving instructors, to provide you and other drivers with relevant reports including aggregate information based on other instructors’ operation and performance (although please note that this information will always be aggregate, anonymous, statistical information and will never identify you to any other instructor).

2. How we use your Information

You agree that we may share your data with any suppliers and subcontractors (including payment providers) in order to fulfil the service;

  • If we (or a part of our business) are acquired by a third party, Your Information may be one of the transferred assets;
  • To credit reference agencies and/or fraud detection and prevention agencies;
  • To any relevant public authority or law enforcement agency, including for example where we suspect you have committed a criminal offence or we suspect fraud where required by law, regulation or legal proceedings;
  • In order to enforce or apply the Instructor Terms or Learner Terms or any other agreement to which you and we are a party, as applicable;
  • Unless you have told us that you do not want to receive marketing communications, from third parties engaged by us, to provide you with marketing communications about our products and services. This may also include social media platforms (including Facebook) where we provide limited information about our users (e.g. their email address) to the social media platform so they can provide to us an anonymous demographic profile of our users with profiles on that platform to inform our targeted marketing activities on that platform; and
  • To third parties from whom you have chosen to receive marketing information.

You should take care when using any Driving Advisor social networking features since the information you choose to make available can be seen by other users in the selected group. We do not monitor the use of such features in the normal course of business although we reserve the right to do so at our discretion. Your Information may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for Us or for one of Our suppliers. We will ensure any data export is undertaken in accordance with relevant data protection laws and take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your Information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

3. How do we protect Your Information?

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of the Service, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Although we will do our best to protect Your Information, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to the Service; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received

Your Information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

4. Access to Your Information and corrections

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of such information, please contact us in writing at support@drivingadvisor.co.uk. We may make a small charge for this.

You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate by contacting us. We hope you will be happy with the way we handle your information but if not you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner if there is a problem – for more information visit www.ico.gov.uk.

5. Cookies and other data storage devices

We do use certain cookies and other similar technologies as part of our Driving Advisor services. The cookies used are session cookies for the purpose of enabling you to use the service (for example to enable you to complete a registration or access information). You can choose to disable cookies (through your browser or device settings) although you should be aware that this may prevent you from being able to use all parts of Driving Advisor. We may amend this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect changes to the Service, including additional products or services offered by us. We will give you reasonable notice of any changes to the privacy policy.
